Thinking of Leaving HomeFamily breakdown can be a reason for wanting to leave home but moving out isn’t always the best option. Leaving home seems like the easiest option but this isn’t always the case. Serious thought should be given to leaving home, as it is a big step. Things that need to be considered when leaving home:
Emergency options A ‘quick fix’ option that may be possible is Staying
with Friends. This might be the best emergency option, as it
will allow you to get stuff sorted and it will be free. If you need to leave home, make an appointment as soon as possible with
one of the Council’s homeless
officers via the Housing Advice, Support and Mediation Services, 8
Burn Wynd, Jedburgh TD8 6BY. Tel: 0800 376 1138 or 01835 865180. Need Accommodation?Bed & Breakfasts (B&B’s) could also be considered if you have some money available to spend on accommodation. These are usually privately run and more expensive than other options. Some B&B’s don’t accept people who are claiming housing benefits. All B&B’s are listed in the yellow pages.
