Local Housing Strategy/Housing ResearchThe Housing (Scotland) Act 2001 placed a new duty on local authorities to produce a Local Housing Strategy, which will be an action plan for housing over the next 5 to 10 years. The responsibility for the Local Housing Strategy lies with the Council’s Housing Strategy Team who are part of the Lifelong Care Portfolio. The strategy will be used to pinpoint actions that the Council intends to put in place to enhance the quality and supply of housing in the Scottish Borders. We recognise that it is vital for Borders citizens to become involved in the Local Housing Strategy process and will be carrying out extensive consultation. Further information on the Local Housing Strategy, including draft consultation documents, will be published on this site over the coming months. The Housing Strategy Team is responsible for carrying out housing research to support the Local Housing Strategy and to inform the Scottish Executive and other corporate plans/policies.
